All gloves have their own function. Here you’ll find everything you need to know to choose the right gloves and mittens for your child.

Which size is best?

We write the size and age in all our mittens and gloves. The age shown is a rough indication that the size usually fits this age, but children grow at very different rates and it’s always best to try before you buy.

Remember that winter gloves shouldn’t be too tight if they need to provide extra warmth. If fingertips are pressed against the top of the glove, they will get cold. But if the gloves are too big, they will be hard to play in.

Mittens

Our simple mittens and gloves are perfect for milder weather. Mittens are often best for babies and small children as their fingers are so small. Gloves tend to suit slightly older children better as they often want complete freedom of movement and it’s easier to get their fingers in.

Magic gloves

Knitted gloves and mittens are perfect for milder weather. They adapt to the child’s hand, which is how they fit so well. We also have magic gloves with extra grip on the palms.

Wool gloves

Warm gloves that are perfect when it’s a little colder. They also retain body heat even if they happen to get wet. Available as mitten, glove and no thumb version.

Shell mittens and gloves

Waterproof and windproof mittens/gloves in hard-wearing material with a grip-friendly surface on the palms and fingers. The water column is 10,000 mm.

Rain mittens

Windproof and waterproof mittens with a water column of 10,000 mm. Rain mittens are great when it’s very wet out, and are ideal with a magic wool mitten underneath for extra warmth. And they are really easy to clean, just put them under the tap.

Padded mittens and gloves

We have several models that are padded for the coldest days. They come with different functions so they suit different children and activities. Many of them are also ideal as an outer layer with thin wool gloves underneath. They all come with a water column of 10,000 mm and extra grip that is helpful for when the mitten/glove is a bit thicker.

Fleece mittens and gloves

Mittens and gloves in fleece are warm and handy and are perfect when it’s a little colder. We have a range of versions for different children and activities.

Gloves and mittens

Which glove when?

There are three different phases:

  • Mild: mittens, magic mittens, gloves.
  • Colder: shell mittens, fleece mittens, wool mittens.
  • Coldest: padded mittens/gloves or thin wool gloves as layer 1 with padded gloves on top.

For newborns and small children who are hard to dress, padded mittens are great with a warm blanket or sleeping bag on top.

Gloves or mittens?

All children are different but mittens are often easier for younger children and babies because their fingers are so small and hard to put gloves on. Slightly older children often want more freedom of movement and then gloves are a better option.

Short or long?

We have some long versions that go over the jacket or all-in-one. They are very popular with preschoolers (and their parents) as they stay on and help keep the child dry. Short mittens are great for children of all ages and fit easily under the sleeves of a jacket. They are also easier for children who can dress themselves to manage.

Lost a mitten?

Unfortunately, it happens! That’s why our knitted mittens come in 2-packs. But did you know you can also buy single mittens from us to replace one that might have wandered off?

You’ll find our two best-selling mittens available in single packs: a wind- and waterproof shell mitten and a wind- and waterproof shell mitten with cosy padding. Say goodbye to lonely mittens!
