Your back-to-school checklist

It's finally time for back to school! After a long summer, new adventures, lessons, breaktimes and school trips await. While school uniforms cover the essentials, children still need practical outerwear, shoes and accessories to stay comfortable throughout the day. We've put together a smart checklist of everyday essentials that complement a school uniform and help keep children prepared for changing weather, outdoor play and school activities.
Backpack
A good backpack is an essential companion throughout the school year. Choose a practical, comfortable and easy-to-carry backpack that is the right size for all your child's school essentials. Reflective details are a smart choice, helping children stay visible during darker mornings and afternoons.
Rainwear
Rainwear is a back-to-school essential. With a durable waterproof set, children can continue playing, exploring and moving freely even when the weather brings rain and wet playgrounds.
For active children who love spending time outdoors, shell clothing is an excellent choice. Its windproof and water-repellent properties provide reliable protection from the elements, while good breathability helps maintain a comfortable body temperature throughout the day. A shell jacket and shell trousers can easily be adapted to changing weather using the layering principle.
Wellies
The right footwear makes a big difference during long school days. Durable waterproof trainers are ideal for playtime, sports and active breaks. They provide great support, are comfortable to wear and can handle the demands of everyday school life. Pair them with wellington boots for rainy days and outdoor adventures in wet conditions. With footwear suited to both the weather and the activity, children are ready for everything from the classroom to the playground.
Socks
An extra pair of socks in a backpack or school locker can be a lifesaver when feet get wet or cold. Wool socks are especially useful on cooler days, as they keep feet warm even when damp.
Thermal layer
As the temperature drops, a soft thermal layer becomes the perfect foundation for outdoor comfort. Base layers help children stay warm and dry by wicking moisture away during play and activity.
Windproof fleece jacket
A windproof fleece jacket is a versatile wardrobe favourite that works throughout much of the year. It can be worn as a warm mid-layer on colder days or as a lightweight jacket when the weather is milder.
Hat
As autumn approaches, a warm beanie can make all the difference during outdoor breaks and chilly mornings. Choose a comfortable style that keeps little heads warm without overheating during play.
Gloves
Good gloves help keep hands warm and dry throughout the school day. Different weather conditions call for different types of gloves, from lighter styles for autumn to warmer options when winter arrives.
Remember to mark each item with your child’s name!
