Are you starting to run out of ideas for keeping your children entertained when you have to stay indoors? Here are our ten top tips for fun activities your whole family can enjoy together indoors!
1. Sow some seeds
Spring is the perfect time to sow flower and vegetable seeds! Let your children choose what they want to grow. Find soil and pots and get planting! Let your children water the seedlings and keep track of how the plants are growing in the coming weeks.
2. Build an obstacle course
Set out empty cardboard boxes like a slalom course, lay a broom across two piles of books to create a hurdle and add a few chairs covered with blankets for your children to crawl under. Your imagination is the only limit when you build an indoor obstacle course out of items you have at home!
3. Play board games and put together jigsaws
Get out some classic board games or jigsaws and enjoy quality time with your whole family.
4. Have a picnic on your living room floor
Spread a blanket and some cushions on your living room floor and share a tasty family picnic. One tip is to let your children help to choose and prepare the food and drink!
5. Write letters to grandparents
Are you unable to visit grannies and grandpas right now? Get out paper and crayons/felt-tip pens and let your children draw a lovely card with a heartfelt message and post it to their grandparents.
6. Build a blanket fort
Building a blanket fort is a perfect indoor activity! Throw a duvet or sheet over the kitchen table or some chairs, and fill the fort with soft blankets and cushions or pillows to make it super-cosy. Why not combine this with our next tip and enjoy a yummy cake inside?
7. Bake a yummy cake
Find some cake recipes, let your children pick which one they want to bake and then have fun making it.
8. Play hair stylists
Get out every single hair accessory you can find and let mum or dad visit the children’s hair salon for a new ‘style’. Tip: it’s probably best to hide the scissors!
9. Longer bathtimes
Let your children enjoy long, leisurely bathtimes before they cuddle up in a cosy and comfy bathrobe. Tip: Read them a good book to wind down!
10. Make your own playdough
Surprise your children with home-made playdough for making models and shapes! The ingredients you need can usually be found in your kitchen cupboards.
