5 tips for Easter cheer

Easter is just around the corner, bringing April weather, school holidays and plenty of cosy moments. Here are a few fun ideas for Easter and the days off, to help the whole family get into the spirit – whether the sun is shining or the rain is blowing sideways outside the window.

  1. Organise an Easter egg hunt.
Few things are as classic at Easter as an egg hunt, and few things motivate children quite as much as searching for sweets. Depending on the children’s age, you can adjust the difficulty – from simply looking for the egg to creating a map and clues that eventually lead to the treasure.

  2. Dye or paint eggs!
Breakfast feels more fun when the eggs look festive. It’s also a great opportunity to take a first small step into cooking by teaching children how to boil eggs. You don’t even need to buy colouring – almost anything that stains can colour eggs. Try experimenting! We can recommend onion skins, frozen blueberries, turmeric, beetroot or red cabbage.

Of course, you can also paint the eggs – just make sure to use paints that are safe.

  3. Dress in Easter colours.
It’s easier to get into the Easter spirit when everyone wears cheerful spring colours. We’ve picked out a few of our Easter favourites here. If the weather allows, we also recommend enjoying some cosy Easter moments in our fantastic pyjamas for adults.

  4. Make chicks from handprints.
Paint the palm of your hand yellow and press it onto a sheet of paper with your fingers spread out. Let the thumb become the head and the other fingers the tail feathers. Leave them to dry, cut them out and hang them in the window using sewing thread.

  5. Start growing something.
Easter is the perfect time to plant something that needs to germinate indoors before being moved outside. Tomato plants are both easy and fun to grow, and they usually start sprouting within just a few days. All you need is a small packet of seeds, some soil and a pot or container to plant them in.
