100% more sustainable products

100% of our range currently consists of more sustainable products*. We originally set this target for 2025 – but achieved it in 2023! This means that at least 70% of each PO.P garment consists of a more sustainable fibre.

How did we manage it? By identifying the materials that are market-leading in terms of a reduced impact on people, animals and nature. Materials that are also able to satisfy our strict quality and longevity requirements. As the development of more sustainable fibres gathers pace, we’re continuously working to update our materials.

* Applies to all products purchased from Spring 2023 onwards.

The following sustainable materials are currently available in our range:

Organic cotton

Cotton is a natural material with many fantastic qualities. Cotton garments are soft and comfy to wear, yet strong enough to withstand lively play and frequent washing. However, since the cultivation of cotton requires a lot of water and pesticides, we’ve therefore chosen to only use organic cotton, which is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.

The first organic cotton garments were introduced into our range as long ago as 1987.

GOTS Organic

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a world-leading standard and certification for textiles made of natural materials. In order for a product to be certified and permitted to carry the GOTS symbol, it must be made from organically grown cotton and be processed throughout the entire manufacturing chain in factories that are GOTS-certified by an independent body.

GOTS Made with Organic Cotton

In order for a product to be certified and labelled with GOTS Made With Organic Cotton, at least 70% of the fibre content must be organic. While this is slightly lower than for GOTS Organic, where the organic fibre content must be at least 95%, in all other respects the same rules apply to the entire production chain.

Recycled polyester

By using recycled polyester, we’re reducing the use of virgin fibres, while at the same time reducing both carbon dioxide emissions and water use. In this way, we’re helping to conserve our planet’s resources, as polyester is a material made from crude oil, which is a non-renewable source. Most of the recycled polyester in our products comes from recycled PET bottles.

Recycled polyamide

This is another way in which we’re reducing the use of virgin fibres, which decreases both carbon dioxide emissions and water use, by investing in recycled materials. Most of the recycled polyamide in our products comes from discarded fishing nets.

Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)

The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) describes and certifies methods in wool fibre production to ensure animal welfare and farm land management, and tracks the certified material from farm to end product.

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose fibres are made from wood pulp from sustainable wood sources and the production has less impact on the environment. The fibre is certified with the official EU Ecolabel, which is awarded to products meeting high environmental standards throughout their life cycle.

The production of LENZING™ ECOVERO™ branded viscose generates up to 50% lower emissions and water impact compared to generic viscose fibres.

LENZING™ and ECOVERO™ are trademarks of LENZING AG.

TENCEL™ Lyocell

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are derived from wood pulp from sustainably managed forests and the finished fibre is biodegradable. The production of TENCEL™ Lyocell is made in a closed loop process where 99% of the water and solvents used are reused. By reusing solvents and water the lyocell process ensures high resource efficiency and low environmental impact. TENCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG.

RECLAIMED FABRICS

Clothes carrying this label are made from leftover material from previous collections.  By creating garments from existing materials, we’re helping not only to reduce waste but also to conserve our planet's precious resources. This is a resource-efficient and more sustainable way of creating clothes, without compromising on our high quality standards.
